new york studio june 16 2010

I’m about to commence the real work on a painting installation for Greater Reston Arts Center next May in my summer studio in New York. Shown on the floor is one/eighth of the space that will be painted, and I’m very excited to get going on it.

The piece will be based on Robert Frost’s poem Fire and Ice:

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

If you’re wondering why I’m so interested in the end of the world, read my blog post, May 1980
